U.S. Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Policy

An comparative analysis of state-level
energy efficiency and renewable energy (EERE) policies

Introduction

Every state has different energy efficiency and climate goals. This project shares that information in a way that is easy to compare between states.

Below is a map that highlights how states rank in terms of the number of EERE policies active or its EERE goals. The data comes from the Database of State Incentives for Renewables & Efficiency (DSIRE), a collection of over 6,000 state-level EERE policies. To help benchmark this data against a state's EERE goals, the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) publishes an annual scorecard ranking each state that can be used for analysis.

Below, we can directly compare EERE policies and that state's ranking according to ACEEE's State Energy Efficiency Scorecard to benchmark state performance.
