The DSIRE dataset provides details on each policy recorded in its database. Interestingly, the policies are also categorized according to an associated incentive structure. This allows us to compare how states differ in implementing EERE policies.
The three types of incentives are as follows:
States at the top of the graph have more of these policies, and it is unsurprising to see the same states over and over again! It is also easy to see how states differ in enacting EERE policies. For example, California has a balanced combination of the three options, while Minnesota heavily favors financial incentives.
